The Brewers round out their coaching staff today by naming former Phillies manager Nick Leyva as their third base coach and promoting longtime minor-league instructor Ed Sedar to coach first.

Leyva, who has spent the past several years in the White Sox organization, replaces Dale Sveum, who assumed the duties as bench coach upon Robin Yount’s resignation. Leyva, 53, managed in Philadelphia from 1989-’91 and compiled a 148-189 record. He managed Chicago’s Class AAA team in 2005 and worked with the advanced rookie team last year.

Sedar, who has spent 16 years as a coach and instructor in the organization, replaces Dave Nelson, who was fired after last season.

The Brewers recently promoted minor-league hitting coordinator Jim Skaalen to replace Butch Wynegar as hitting coach.
