A partnership between 3rd St. Market hall and Ryan Braun and Christian Yelich of the Milwaukee Brewers will help to provide more meals for frontline health care workers at Froedtert Hospital & Medical College of Wisconsin health network, Ascension Wisconsin, Children’s Wisconsin and Aurora Health Care, the official healthcare partner of the Brewers.

"We’re grateful to be able to provide our healthcare workers with a meal to show our gratitude for how much they’ve been doing in this trying time," says Yelich. "We’re all in this fight together and will get through it together."

The initiative, which will begin with 1,000 meals distributed to workers at Froedtert Hospital, has inspired support from numerous companies, including American Family Insurance, Associated Bank, Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company and Sargento.

Additional financial backing has been provided by Visit Milwaukee. Meanwhile, the co-developers of The Avenue, Josh Krsnak and Tony Janowiec, have announced that The Avenue will match the donations made by Yelich and Braun.

"The health care workers across our community are facing unprecedented stress and risk this Easter on the frontlines of caring for the victims of the coronavirus," Krsnak said. "Making sure they and their families have a good meal is one small way The Avenue and the 3rd Street Market community can say, ‘thank you’ to these dedicated professionals."

Meals for the staff and their families will be prepared and delivered by future  3rd St. Market Hall vendors: Donut Monster, Kimchi-Daikon, Milk Can Hamburgers & Custard and Saz’s.

"I am incredibly proud of our vendors," notes 3rd Street Market Hall founding partner Omar Shaikh. "These are all small restaurants facing their own struggles, but when I reached out requesting their help for this project, they all enthusiastically signed up with no hesitation."

Cathy Jacobson, CEO of Froedtert Health expressed gratefulness on behalf of the healthcare facility for the initiative, adding: "Our mission requires our team to literally provide hands-on care to the patients we serve, and our number one priority is the safety of our patients, staff and our community. This continued community support enables our staff to provide the exceptional care our community expects and deserves."

Braun also expressed his thanks.

"Thank you to all the healthcare heroes, first responders and frontline workers for tirelessly working to keep all of us safe," says Braun. "We are eternally grateful for your selflessness and inspired by your courage and strength."
