Festival City is hopping this summer! OnMilwaukee's Festival Guide is brought to you by Potawatomi Hotel & Casino. Escape the heat and step inside!

Since 2004, the Bay View Bash has brought the community – and surrounding communities –  together for a day of food, music, art and fun. This year, it takes place on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Kinnikinnic Avenue between Potter and Clement Avenues. OnMilwaukee is one of the sponsors.

New to the festival this year is a signature beer brewed for the occasion called Bash Bräu. Central Waters Brewing Co. made the Kolsch-style beer and will sell it at the Bash in cans as well as at neighborhood bars.

All proceeds from the Bay View Bash are directly invested back into the city’s neighborhoods through GRANTS, a nonprofit organization that provides funding for special projects. The Bay View Bash also partners with local composting group Kompost Kids to continue efforts in moving the event toward a near-zero-waste festival.

The festival is free, but carry-ins of any kind are not permitted.

The Bay View Bash is run entirely by volunteers and some are still needed for partial or all-day support. All volunteers receive a free T-shirt, beer/drink and food tickets.

Community groups and nonprofit organizations can earn additional funding for their organization by helping out at the bars. Groups will earn a portion of the pooled tips per hour based on the number of volunteers participating for each organization.

More information on how to volunteer and support the event can be found at www.bayviewbash.org
